In Spirit 04:22
Let’s start from the beginning For the future’s unforgiving. Fate dealt me an unexpected hand. I was tired of living So I joined in with the rhythm Of the water as it took me from the sand. Only to return again in spirit. Only to find death has got its limits. Others like me roam around Lookin’ for loves’ lost and found Preyin’ on the needs of mortal men. I fear that I am duty bound To lure them with the tempting sound. Softly call their names to draw them in. My heart belongs on land, my soul longs for the sea. But oh you mortal men I fear that this can never, this can never be. Daniel is a fisherman, His skin has been kissed by the sun. I see him on the water every day. I’m thinking maybe he’s the one, For even though I sing my song, He looks at me in such a human way. My heart belongs on land, my soul longs for the sea. But oh you mortal men I fear that this can never, this can never be. I know that when you look at me You think of me as wild and free But nothing could be further from the truth. I left a life behind me Hoping it would never find me And I never really made it past my youth. My heart belongs on land, my soul longs for the sea. But oh you mortal men I fear that this can never, this can never be. We may get seven years or more Of life and love both rich and poor Before the song it calls me back to sea. Then I will pull you through the door, Bid a farewell to the shore. Drag you under, bring you home with me. Only to return again in spirit. Only to find death has got its limits.

Oyster Girl 03:48
As I was going through one of the London streets A pretty little oyster girl I chanced there for to meet And across to her basket so nimbly I did trip “Oh tell me have you got any oysters”. “Oh yes sir, oh yes sir, oh yes sir” said she “I’ve some of the finest oysters that ever you did see And I sell them by one by two by three And bargain for my basket of oysters”. So I went unto the landlord “Oh landlord” says I “Have you got a spare room for the oyster girl and I That we may go in and so merry, merry be And bargain for her basket of oysters”. “Oh yes sir, oh yes sir, oh yes sir” says he “I have got a spare room for the oyster girl and thee That you may go in and so merry, merry be And bargain for her basket of oysters”. We’d not been in the room scarcely but a half an hour Before she picked my pockets of fifty pounds and more And out of the doorway so nimbly she did trip And left me with her basket of oysters. So I went unto the landlord “Oh landlord” says I “Have you seen that oyster girl that comes along with I? She has picked my pocket of all my money And left me with her basket of oysters”. “Oh yes sir, oh yes sir, oh yes sir” says he “I have seen that oyster girl that comes along with thee. She has paid me your reckoning and you may go free. Return unto your basket of oysters”. I’ve travelled through England, through Scotland and France But never in my life was I led to such a trance. So the English girl took the Frenchman in at last And left him with her basket of oysters.

Farewell my love so dear For now the time is near From thee I’m going. But I will come again When frost is on the pane And storms are blowing. The hills and vales do grieve As I their ways must leave When dawns the morrow. Ah why is love made so That it must work us woe And bitter sorrow? ‘Though flattering tongues may woo To thee I will be true And faithful ever. Farewell my love so dear For now the hour is near When we must sever. We must sever.

The Cuckoo 05:08
Oh the cuckoo she’s a pretty bird, She sings as she flies. She brings us glad tidings, She tells us no lies. She drinks from wild flowers To keep her voice clear And when she sings cuckoo The summer draws near. A walking, a talking A walking was I To meet my true lover He’ll come by and by. To meet him in the meadow Is all my delight. A walking and a talking From morning ’til night. Well meeting is a pleasure But parting is grief. An unfaithful lover Is worse than a thief. For a thief can but rob me And take what I have. An unfaithful lover Sends me to my grave. The grave it will rot me And bring me to dust. An unfaithful lover No maiden can trust For they’ll court you and they’ll kiss you And vow they’ll be true. The very next morning They’ll bid you adieu. Oh the cuckoo she’s a pretty bird, She sings as she flies. She brings us glad tidings, She tells us no lies. She drinks from wild flowers To keep her voice clear And when she sings cuckoo The summer draws near.

Once upon a time, a familiar line And one that’s not relevant today. ‘Cause from the moment I met you our paths intertwined And I knew you were heading my way. With each look a challenge with each breath a dare. They say you put on a good show. You talk a good talk you run, you don’t walk And you laugh and you think I don’t know. I’m like the tortoise and you’re like the hare. You’re quick off the blocks while I tread with care. I’d rather be cautious it’s a harsh world out there. And your smug smile it tells me that I’d better beware. So I’ll bide my time while you pick your fights. Yes I’ll bide my time and see you at the finish line. You’re quick on your feet but I’ve a trick up my sleeve For I know that you’ll stumble some day. You see I’m always ready, I stick to the plan And then carefully pave my own way. You start out with confidence; falter through arrogance. Every thought bitter and cold Perhaps you don’t mean it; perhaps you don’t know Well let’s wait for the truth to unfold. I’m like the tortoise and you’re like the hare. You’re quick off the blocks while I tread with care. I’d rather be cautious it’s a harsh world out there And your smug smile it tells me that I’d better beware. So I’ll bide my time while you dream you’re right. Yes I’ll bide my time and see you at the finish line. In spite of the things that you’ve said and you’ve done Your biggest mistake was to think that you've won, For while you were sleeping and victory dreaming You didn’t see it coming and you were outrun. I’m like the tortoise and you’re like the hare. You’re quick off the blocks while I tread with care. I’d rather be cautious it’s a harsh world out there And your smug smile it tells me that I’d better beware. So I’ll bide my time for the end’s in sight. Yes I’ll bide my time and see you at the finish line.

Firestone 04:21
I’m searching for where my soul sits I’d take you there if I could. Where darkness is courted by silence. Their intentions are well understood. I’ve caught glimpses of this place within me. Fragments of visions, of dreams. As moonlight appears It calls on my fears And threatens to unpick the seams. But I will not stray from the pathway. My steps will not falter nor fail. Though this burning inside me May try to deny me The firestone will tell its own tale. The scene it unfolds before me. Like a theatre the staging is set. The water’s as still as a graveyard But life’s not abandoned it yet. I can sense there’s a heartbeat within it. Someone or something lives there. My instinct to hide Outmanoeuvred by pride Is a feeling that hangs in the air. But I will not stray from the pathway. My steps will not falter nor fail. Though this burning inside me May try to deny me The firestone will tell its own tale. From where I stand you can see her Though half hidden and veiled she appears. The firestone glows from within her And burns the last of my fears. You can see from her face she is timeless. Born in an age long gone. Her smile is my own reflection And in it I see we are one. And I will not stray from the pathway. My steps will not falter nor fail. Though this burning inside me May try to deny me The firestone will tell its own tale.

In a small town not far from here Just over the border and down the road; I’ll sing you a song of a man that I know that lives there. With pockets full of charm, That twinkle in his eye. See how all the ladies swoon as Mr Clark walks by And you may try and tell him But this he will deny There’s nobody as wonderful as Mr Clark. I will write for him so that he knows That he shall have music wherever he goes. I will sing for him and I hope he’ll sing along. Now you may think he’s confident But, really, he is shy. See how all the people stare as Mr Clark walks by And you may try and tell him But this he will deny There’s nobody as wonderful as Mr Clark. And there’s more than meets the eye. I wish that I could describe it. See how the words escape me. Yes it’s true words aren’t enough when it comes to you. In twenty years’ time I guarantee He’ll still be turning heads so innocently. I hope he’s still smiling and he remembers this song. Pockets full of charm, That twinkle in his eye. See how all the people stare as Mr Clark walks by And you may try and tell him But this he will deny There’s nobody as wonderful, Nobody as wonderful as Mr Clark!

There were two sisters came walking down the stream ‘Oh the wind and rain’ The one behind pushed the other one in ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. They both had a love of the miller’s son ‘Oh the wind and rain’ He only loved the fairer one ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. They pushed her into the river to drown ‘Oh the wind and rain’ Watched her as she floated on down ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. She floated ’til she came to the Miller’s pond ‘Oh the wind and rain’ Dead on the water like a golden swan ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. She floated ’til she came to the riverside ‘Oh the wind and rain’ Her bones were washed by the rolling tide ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. Along the road came a fiddler fair ‘Oh the wind and rain’ Found her bones just lying there ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. He made fiddle pegs from her long finger bones ‘Oh the wind and rain’ He made fiddle pegs from her long finger bones ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. He made a fiddle bow from her long yellow hair ‘Oh the wind and rain’ He made a fiddle bow from her long yellow hair ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. He made a fine fiddle from her breast bone ‘Oh the wind and rain’ He made a very fine fiddle from her breast bone ‘Crying oh the dreadful wind and rain’. The only tune that the fiddle would play ‘Oh the wind and rain’ The only tune that the fiddle would play Was ‘Oh the dreadful wind and rain’.

I told me Mum I was goin’ out. She asked what I was all about. I asked if I could take the broom I’m goin’ to meet the girls. Oh the moon is wax tonight Don’t you like the fellas? I prefer the girls tonight I’m goin’ to ride the wind. ‘Cause it’s the girls’ night out. Away ye merry lassies! Get your brooms, get ‘em out. We’ll ride the wind tonight. My Sister is so bold and free. She asked if she could come with me. I saw her up above the trees Goin’ to ride the wind. As we were goin’ out the gate I saw my dear old Mother Ridin’ the broom, hummin’ a tune, Goin’ to ride the wind. Oh it’s the girls’ night out. Away ye merry lassies! Get your brooms, get ‘em out. We’ll ride the wind tonight…

In Newry town I was bred and born, Near Stephen's Green now I lie in scorn. I served me time at the saddling trade; I always was a roving blade. At seventeen I took a wife, I loved her dearer than I loved my life And so to keep her both fine and gay, I went out robbin’ on the King's highway. I never robbed a poor man yet, Nor any tradesman caused I to fret. But I robbed lords and ladies bright, And carried their gold to my heart's delight. I robbed Lord Golding I do declare, And Lady Mansel in Grosvenor Square. I closed the shutters, bid them goodnight. And carried their gold to my heart's delight. To Covent Garden I made my way, With my dear wife for to see the play. Lord Fielding's men they did me pursue, And I was taken by that cursed crew. My father cried “My darling son." My wife she cried "now I’m undone." My mother tore her locks and cried "It’s in the cradle you should have died.” When I am gone and want for me grave A flashy funeral pray let me have. Six highwaymen to carry me. Oh Give ’em broadswords and liberty. Six pretty maidens to bear my pall, Give them white garlands and ribbons all. And when I'm dead they will speak the truth, He was a wild and a wicked youth.

Fly Away 03:47
Oh my dear child Hear what I say. Your head is in the clouds again And you wish your life away. Though cold winds may blow And storms they may gather, Your wings they are not strong enough They’ll tear and they’ll tatter. Oh my dear child Look at what I’ve found. These boots they are so strong and tough They’ll keep you on the ground. Though cold winds may blow And storms they may gather, They’ll keep you grounded, keep you safe And that is all that matters. Oh my dear child Look at what I’ve made. This hat shall be a crown for you Of rubies, gold and jade. Though cold winds may blow And storms they may gather, My prince I’ll hold you close to me As the world grows colder. Hold on to innocence my child. You’ll miss it when you’re older… I’ll fly away, fly away oh glory. I’ll fly away. When I die hallelujah by and by. I’ll fly away. I’ll fly away, fly away oh glory. I’ll fly away. When I die hallelujah by and by. I’ll fly away.
